Interactive Network German in Berlin
The unemployment among foreign fellow citizens living in Berlin remains higher than average.
The most common barriers to integrating oneself socially and professionally are still due to limited or inexistent language competence. Furthermore, many foreign fellow citizens enjoyed less or even no formal education in their home countries and are thus often illiterates.
Many regional and supraregional service providers offer a wide range of programs to foreign fellow citizens in order to support their social and professional integration.
The Senate Department for Integration, Labour and Social Issues as well as the European Union promote the model and pilot project - Interactive Network - German as a Foreign Language in Everyday Life & Occupation. Thus, prospects for effective networking and cooperation are established.
Activities:
1. The establishment of a Regional Network in order to improve the social and professional integration of foreign fellow citizens
Apart from enabling the exchange of personal experiences, this Regional Network is to make available offers and information on the Internet, which afford all participants a continuous overview over offers regarding the social and professional integration of foreign fellow citizens. Actual problems shall be discussed, educational and occupational offers be published and the exchange of working materials concerning the organization of advanced trainings in the field “German Language in Everyday Life & Occupation” shall be made possible.
Special emphasis will be the integration of foreign fellow citizens into the primary and secondary job market
